Kimberly + Joelle // DC Elopement at the National Gallery of Art

Kimberly and Joelle reside in South Carolina and made the drive to Washington DC to say their I Do’s. Since the DC Federal Court doesn’t allow photography, we met up afterwards at the National Gallery of Art for some fun and modern elopement photographs. Kimberly and Joelle are so obviously in love and I truly had an amazing time capturing and getting to know the two of them!

And… some shots on the vertical escalator, connecting the East and West sides of the Gallery. So. Much. Fun.

Emily + Alex // Engagement at Fletcher’s Cove & Potomac Boat Club

What can I say? Emily and Alex are mega awesome.

We met up with them at one of our favorite DC locations – The Boathouse at Fletcher’s Cove. We discovered this incredible spot late last year, when we met up with Becca & Jamie for their engagement session. Since then, we’ve been back a few times to kayak with friends on the Potomac River.

This session took place on the Canal, as the Potomac’s waters were a bit rough that day. Not that we didn’t think Emily and Alex couldn’t handle it. In fact, they’re both crazy talented rowers and are members of the Potomac Boat Club  – where we headed to for the second part of their session! (The Boathouse couldn’t allow us to use rentals on the River, due to liability purposes.)

Oh – and small world. It turned out that Alex is friends with one of our clients, Jeff, who is getting married this Saturday! Emily had stumbled upon us from a Google search and contacted us from there. A week or so before our session with them, Alex found out that we were also Jeff’s wedding photographers. Pretty neat, right? (We thought so.)

Nicole + Rose // Patapsco Valley & Clipper Mill Anniversary Session

Nicole and Rose have been together since their high school years and recently celebrated their 3 year wedding anniversary. Chad and I spent a lovely afternoon laughing, exploring [nature trails], and having an all-around good time with them. We wandered along the water and railroad tracks at Patapsco Valley State Park, then headed over to the Clipper Mill neighborhood of Baltimore (where they celebrated their wedding) for photos in their wedding attire!

I actually first met Nicole in grade school, then attended the same high school as both of them. Nicole graduated high school the year before I entered as a freshman and Rose was one grade ahead of me (which is how I met her). They’re two of the sweetest women I know and their love for one another is just incredible.
